This photographic series connects the individual to such universal experiences as time, longing, loss and remembering. The images I’ve created are vignettes of what is left of my grandparent’s rural home, which was deserted following their deaths. The photos subsume the destructive nature of abandonment, evoking reflection on what used to be and what could have been while simultaneously conveying the peace I have found in what is. This work began as a challenge to connect with a memory, a lost opportunity, a piece of myself. It blossomed into a relationship with the beauty of deterioration and acceptance of the inevitability of time.
